Ayurvedic Massage

Ayurvedic massage uses essential oils that are chosen to suit the body and health of the individual. The massage techniques used include tapping, kneading and squeezing as well as the more traditional massage strokes. An Ayurvedic therapist is trained to focus on the “marma points” – similar to the pressure points in reflexology, acupuncture and acupressure. Regular massage promotes healing and restoration by eliminating toxins from the body.

Panchakarma denotes the five different procedures used in Ayurveda which are believed to purify the body. This is done in two ways: 1)pacifying the aggravated “doshas” by using appropriate diet, natural herbs and minerals, and 2) eliminating the increased “Doshas” from the body. According to Charaka, the five actions are:

1. Nasya (nasal therapy)     2. Vamana (emesis or vomiting)    3. Virechana (purging)

4. Nirooha Vasti( Using Herbal decoctions)     5. Sneha Vasti (Using herbal oils)
